Hurricane Helene slammed into West Florida on Sept 26, 2024 as a CAT 4 with 140 mph winds. It continued along the eastern U.S. coast hitting Ga., S.C., N.C. & Tenn. with early damage estimates of $160 Billion.
Just 13 days later, Hurricane Milton landed in Siesta Key, Fl (Sarasota County) as a CAT 3 storm with wind speed of 120 mph. Milton added another critical punch to the state of Florida from Jacksonville south to Key West with 126 tornados ranging in size from F1 (73 – 112 mph) to F3 (158 – 206 mph) bringing death and destruction to Florida before moving into the eastern Atlantic Ocean. Damage cost will likely exceed Helene.
